2013

Client work expanded into the LED lighting industry. In addition to doing client work the company also wanted to embrace designing its own products.

In order to facilitate this better the company changed its name to ThornWerks Design and added a brand logo. The first product was to be a pen/stylus for the new tablet technology that had just hit the markets.

Since writing tools are used to make letters, we coupled the Nordic letter thorn with the Germanic form of factory/company (werks) to form the name ThornWerks, a “writing tool company”. The company logo is a stylized letter thorn.

2016

Client work continues to flourish and ThornWerks lauched its second line of products.

The new product focused on looking at business card cases and wallets in a new way. One clip for storage and one clip for the cards. Due to customer suggestion a second smaller version was released the next year as a wallet, along with a higher end version of the original design.

2022

ThornWerks services have expanded to include prototyping as well as sourcing and product strategy.

Client load has dramatically increased and the decision was made to break off the product side of the business into its own company, allowing ThornWerks to be devoted to being a design consultancy.
